How do I get to the start line of my event?

Generally you would drive or get dropped off depending on your event. For the swimming events (where you do not need to transport craft) if you need help getting to the start line (point to point swim) we ask you to tick a box at registration so we can arrange car pooling or a bus to get you to the start line.

 

What clinics are on offer and can I just turn up and purchase on the day?

The clinics will be varied offering you a chance to chat to the experts behind the sports. They will be running at various times throughout the day, please keep an eye on the schedule for the times. These will either be complimentary or a small fee will be charged, payable on the day.

 

What is King and Queen of the Bay?

King of the bay is the first 3 males across the line in the SUP and Paddling events respectively. The Queen is the first three females. To be eligible you have to complete a minimum of 3 events across the weekend. Prize money is on offer for the Kings and Queens. Please see the page here for all the detailed information.

 

What if the weather isn’t on our side that weekend?

The event will go ahead rain, hail or shine. We will make safety calls across the weekend as required and changes may be made in the timetable in case of non favourable winds, thunderstorms and other weather events. Please understand your safety if our primary concern so if we need to delay start times for any reason you will be notified and this will be for your safety.

 

I am not a pro- can I still join in on any events?

Yes! We have a social paddleboard event, with use of Hobie boards to trial and have some fun with your friends. Anyone can enter the ocean swim events 1k, 3k or 5k also.

 

Is there prize money available?

Yes for the Ocean Paddling and SUP events there is a top 3 men and top 3 women (who do a minimum 3 events) will receive prize money $7,000 will be split between the winners!

 

If I don’t want to compete can I still come and watch?

There will be fun activities and entertainment provided across the weekend for the whole family to enjoy. Come watch the beach netball, chill with a coffee and some healthy tucker, watch the awesome kite surfers, explore the expo area and what’s on offer or chill with a book or listening to the cool tunes that will be playing across the weekend at race central.

 

I don’t have my own board? Can I hire one?

Yes there will be boards available for hire across the weekend.

 

Where can I park?

Beach street parking area is reserved for officials and drop-off of craft only. You will need to park elsewhere and walk back to event central. Please be aware many parts of Huskisson are 2 hour zones. Heading towards Moona Moona Creek there is lots of parking available by the beach and past the bridge.

 

Are food and coffee services offered at the event?

There will be a coffee cart and food trucks serving sausage sizzles, Acai bowls and much more plus nearby Huskisson is full of awesome restaurants and pubs.

 

Is event central pet friendly?

Pets are allowed around event central, as long as they are kept on a leash, by the expo and on the grass and path areas. Dogs are permitted on the beach after 4pm and before 8am in the mornings.

 

Can I register on the day?

Yes you can register on the day for all events but will need relevant membership/ craft to be eligible to compete.

 

Will there be water safety?

There will be water safety for the swim and for all other events watercraft to assist should you get into difficulty. Plus First Aid services will be available across the weekend.

 

Where can I leave my bags?

We will have a bag-drop area at event central- you just need to bring a bag and label it with your name or race number for collection post-event. You will need to show your event wristband or ID to collect your bag. For the swimming events, there will be bag drop-off at the start point, and they will be taken to the finish baggage area for your collection upon event completion.

 

Can my craft be left on site overnight? Is there security?

We will have a fenced-off area with overnight security if you wish to leave your craft at event site, rather than transporting it to and from the event site every day.
